Today, I went to work for my first job in the real estate market. I'm really excited about it!

I'm overseeing marketing for BridgePoint Investment Group. Bridgepoint is owned by Hong & Dianne Lee and they focuse on real estate investing, property management, and REALTOR sales in the Austin, TX market. I'll be learning these three different areas. They also go by Austin House Hunter and Duplex Dianne. I will only be working part time which will allow me to be with my daughter the rest of the day. Hong and his staff are excited about my new venture into real estate and my blog and podcast. So I will be sharing from time to time what I am learning in the office.

Last week, I went to home (The Rio Grande Valley, TX) to see my parents and relatives before I began my job here. It was great to see everyone and share with them my new journey. I've been away about 10 years and every year I go back to visit, I've seen new growth in regards to commercial real estate and residential developments. Now that my mindset is in Real Estate Investing, I called a couple of ads for fourplexes in the area that they were just building. One investor was building a subdivision of fourplexes with 2/2's in the front and 3/2's in the back with covered parking for $289,000. The other could build you 1- fourplex (3/2 all) for $310,000. I didn't ask about square footage or any other details but I wondered if that was a good price for the area? was the market on the way up? or were they just wising to get as much as possible from an outsider? As I keep learning I'll be able to answer these questions more easily.
